Good evening and welcome to the New Hampshire Debates. I'm Allison McNair. Joining us tonight are two candidates for Congress in District Two - Republican Incumbent Charles Bass and Democrat Barney Brannen.
First, a word about the format. Tonight's debate is divided into two parts. During our first half hour, a panel of journalists will question the candidates. They are: Jphn Distaso of the Union Leader and Greg Navarro from New England Cable News. Then, following a short break, the candidates will have an opportunity to question each other in the second half of the debate. We'll begin with opening statements. The order was determined by random drawing. Congressman Bass, you have one minute.

Thank you both. And now we turn to our panel of journalists. The candidate receiving the question from a journalist will have one minute to answer followed by a 30 second response from your opponent. John Distaso has the first question for Congressman Bass.
